This summer has been a sensational summer of love. Full of weddings and a spurt of sweet surprise engagements.
Cristina and Josh were here for just a short trip. Josh was here for to present at a conference and Cristina saw the perfect opportunity to tag along for some vacation fun. They came a few days earlier so that they could sight-see together. She was excited for the hiking, snorkeling, and beautiful sunsets, but had no idea that he had something far precious planned. They were on a tour of the summer palace when he dropped down on his knee and proposed. She was so surprised that she had to first check that he was being serious. And then she said YES!!!
Cristina really wanted to photos that would capture their love for each other and the beauty of Oahu, now forever a special place they would always remember. And we surely chose one of the most beautiful and romantic spots on the island.
Their session started off with a few obstacles to overcome. The day before, Josh got injured on a hike and they spent the entire day in the ER. And on their way to their photo session, accidents had traffic backed up for miles. I could tell they were getting a little stressed…seriously, who can blame them? Traffic gets my blood pressure going and it’s one of those frustrating things that you know you have no control over. But I assured them, we always plan extra time for life’s little not-so-fun hiccups.
I had gotten there earlier and I really lucked out getting Jenna of Captivating Creations Photography to tag-along. I love that girl! We sat in my little Corolla listening to island jams on my dinky little car radio and gabbed about motherhood and photography. So much fun!
Cristina and Josh arrived to beautiful golden light and needed no time at all to get relaxed in front of the camera. So much of it was just letting them have their own space and private moments and just clicking away to capture their sweet interactions. We had such a great time with them, they were so warm and personable. While we were walking to our cars, Cristina mentioned that she was hoping to go snorkeling before they left but was nervous about having to go alone since Josh was working. Jenna and I instantly pounced “when are you going? what time?” Sadly, we couldn’t get off work but we would have loved the opportunity to see them again!
Thank you, Josh and Cristina! Thank you for braving the traffic and the hike from the car! Thank you for being genuine and sweet in front of our cameras and letting us share this incredible moment in your life together.
